Todd Syverson (AK '97)

At the time of the Award, Todd Syverson was:

Soldotna Middle School
Soldotna, AK

Biographical Information

In 2005 I transferred from Redoubt Elementary to Soldotna High School as the High School Principal and served in that position until June 2015. During my final year at Soldotna High School I consolidated Skyview High School (the school I helped open in 1990) and Soldotna High School into one high school. Within that consolidation I developed an Alternative School within the high school (SALT), developed a afterschool learning center in our library for additional educational support and online classes offerings, developed additional duel credit classes with the University of Alaska in the areas of Consumer Science, Petroleum/Process Technology and added additional AP offerings. As a staff we worked hard to combine both high schools' traditions through our student counsel creating a family environment for all students. In my spare time I over saw the development and completion of a 3.5 million dollar sports complex at Soldotna High School.
