Fourth-grade teacher Terry Bordo uses Everyday Math and differentiated instruction in order to meet the needs of her students at Dr. George Cunningham Elementary School in Vineland. She names her class "The Bordo Bunch" to give them an immediate sense of family, which contributes to her students performing brilliantly. Mrs. Bordo's students have some of the highest scores in the district and they have been awarded the Math 24 High Achievers Award. A teacher-leader at the fourth-grade level and member of the district's Literacy Committee, Mrs. Bordo has also served on the district's Math and Language Arts curriculum committees for the past four years, and helped develop the district's grade-four benchmarks. As part of a Rutgers University project, Mrs. Bordo was selected as an exceptional teacher in the area of mathematics, in addition to receiving the Governor's Teacher Recognition Award.
