Biographical Information

Ted Tibbetts teaches humanities at Poland Regional High School in Poland, where his achievements include "The Play's the Thing," an interactive CD-ROM for teachers that uses actual footage from his classes, demonstrating how he makes Shakespeare accessible to students of all ages. Previously, Tibbetts taught English language and drama at Portland High School in Portland, where his course on the works of William Shakespeare became one of the school's most sought-after courses. He also served as faculty advisor for the school's Shakespeare Club, through which students have performed Shakespeare and traveled to Stratford-upon-Avon. He collaborated on the design and implementation of a portfolio assessment system for the English Department and was the first in the school to align the curriculum to the Maine Learning Results. A board member of the Children's Theatre of Maine, Tibbetts is a frequent presenter at conferences on teaching Shakespeare in the classroom.
