Language arts teacher Susan Gnagy integrates language arts and technology across the curriculum at Central Community High School in Elkader. One of Mrs. Gnagy's projects combines science, history, English and media studies as students gather information about the county's local history and resources. In another project, students in her biology classes created a series of creative online group tutorials on cytology. The National Board-certified teacher recently piloted a state school-to-work project in which students explore career opportunities and interact with adult professionals using the state's fiberoptic communication infrastructure. Mrs. Gnagy directs the school Web site and assists her students in developing Web sites and public service videos for the local hospital and library.
