At Palm Lakes Elementary School in Hialeah, fourth grade teacher Samuel Pongnon is as much an educator of other educators as he is of young students. A mentor and trainer at the local and state level, he will soon present at the national level as a Certified National Trainer in the American Federation of Teachers' Educational Research and Dissemination program. Mr. Pongnon recently achieved National Board Certification and now shares his advice and experience with other teachers pursuing the same. He is the fourth grade-level chairperson and also works with new and veteran teachers as a professional growth team coach. He recently participated in revising teacher certification exams at the state level, volunteering to sit for the exam and share his input. He has been appointed to the Florida Humanities Council and the United Teachers of Dade Professional Issues Committee.
