Retired from teaching, Robin now works part time as a Payroll HR Manager for a company out of NY. She is also very active in her local library where she serves as President of the Friends of the Library Board. In this role she oversees the budget and fundraisers to ensure the library can offer many programs, all free to the public. Robin emphasizes and promotes the programs that encourage reading starting with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library book giving program and Summer Reading programs. The library also takes programs into the schools to help instill a love of reading at all ages. Robin also works with her therapy dog, Sophie, in libraries, colleges and assisted living facilities.
At North Haven High School in North Haven, teacher Robin created CASTLE (Community and Schools Trading Learning Experiences), a program designed to develop stronger ties between her special education students and community members. Through the program, her students worked with teachers to prepare lessons built around the units they were studying; they then presented these lessons to adults from the community in one-on-one mini-courses. Under her direction, students advertised the courses via weekly newsletters and produced promotional videos which they broadcast on the local cable access channels. Robin also supported beginning teachers as a mentor, portfolio scorer and presenter in the state's Beginning Educator Support Team (BEST). She also worked with the Diversity Team to encourage acceptance of differences. For this she worked with Yale and Facebook to take part in research and present workshops locally and nationally with her students as lead presenters.
