As a mathematics teacher at Redwood High School for the greater part of her 25-year career, Roberta Koss has worked tenaciously to improve the mathematics program and curriculum, leading the way for innovative reforms throughout the Bay Area. Ms. Koss's attention to students' understanding and having them work supportively in small groups inculcates enthusiasm in her classroom, making it a stimulating learning environment. Working consistently to expand her teaching abilities, Ms. Koss's reputation as an instructional leader continues to grow. Her success is illustrated by her work outside the classroom, where she has served on the advisory committee for the California Assessment Program since 1984.
