Oveta Pearce, principal of Harrand Creek Elementary School in Enterprise, has been both a teacher and a program specialist, and draws upon these experiences to inform her decisions as an administrator. Her high standards and compassionate attitude have paid off in higher achievement scores. During her tenure, her fifth- and sixth-grade classes have scored in the 90th percentile on the math section of the SAT. Ms. Pearce also regularly exposes both staff and students to new programs and applications related to technology, which she sees as vital to the learning process. A strong believer in professional development, Ms. Pearce frequently attends seminars and computer training workshops and encourages her staff to do the same.
