Mark Nolan, retired principal of Pine Grove Elementary School in Avon, believes that insuring the "combination of academic success and high personal regard for the self and others is the best formula for the success of our children." Under Mr. Nolan's direction, Pine Grove Elementary School established a Sister School Partnership with an inner-city school, as well as expanded "its program options for children with special needs" including developmentally delayed and medically fragile students. In retirement, Mr. Nolan continues to mentor aspiring and experienced educators. He currently volunteers as a member of the board of the local Historical Society and actively supports the community's Education Foundation.
