Biographical Information

First-grade teacher Lisa A. Skeway is data-driven in her instruction at Yahara Elementary School in DeForest. She uses MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) results to guide instruction and create flexible student groupings to meet individual student needs. She has worked in partnership with other district staff to establish a Guided Reading Program and a book room of reading resources for teachers to use in developing differentiated instructional reading lessons. Mrs. Skeway is program coordinator for the district's mentorship pilot program, and last year completed the University of Wisconsin's Mentoring Certificate Program. This year, she is enrolled in a complementary mentor preparation program through the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. Mrs. Skeway is a member of numerous district committees, including the Learning Improvement Team, Reading/Language Arts Committee, Math Committee and Progress Report Committee.
