First-grade teacher Lesa Martin creates an environment that is both stimulating and challenging for students at E.C. Mason Elementary School in Manvel. Until this year, she was a kindergarten teacher where she led a journaling workshop and most of her students left kindergarten writing complete sentences and short stories. Given Miss Martin's high expectations for all her students, it is no surprise that they always score at the top of the Developmental Reading Assessment used by the district. Miss Martin has been the school's Kindergarten Lead Teacher for the past five years, and has led the curriculum revision process for the school and the district. She was selected to serve as a Literacy Coordinator with Lesley University, and has presented at mentor workshops, kindergarten Math TEXTEAMS workshops, and the Early Childhood Reading Recovery and Literacy Conference. This year, she is also writing kindergarten math curriculum.
I am about to begin my 21st year in education. I am currently the Principal of P.H. Greene a Title I school. I LOVE my job! My students and teachers are amazing.
