Fifth-grade teacher LaRayne Brown provides her students and peers at Belknap Elementary School in Beaver with unique opportunities for enthusiastic learning. She was the driving force behind the creation of Belknap's History Fair, which she continues to chair. The program has since extended to the local high school, where students under Ms. Brown's guidance have advanced to the National History Fair Competition in Washington, D.C. As co-chair of the district's Gifted and Talented Program, Ms. Brown coordinates the curriculum and facilitates workshops for teachers. She is also a school and district leader in instructional technology. A trained emergency medical technician, she is a member of the Beaver County Hospital Board.
