Kristin (Felde) Hundeby White is a science specialist at Shahala Middle School in Vancouver, a position she has held since 2001. Previously, (Felde) Hundeby White was staff development specialist for the Battle Ground School District in Battle Ground. As a teacher at Pleasant Valley Primary School, (Felde) Hundeby White implemented a long-term program to train all staff and students in computer skills, even though the school had only one computer at the time. "I believe in teaching relevant life skills and concepts, and my approach to education is to develop hands-on learning experiences," she said. (Felde) Hundeby White led the school on the road to equipping all classrooms with computer facilities and Internet access, and became the school's chair of educational technology. Her students participated in a project that tracked the Space Shuttle Columbia, in which they interviewed the astronauts involved in the mission via computer and provided the rest of the school with daily reports on the shuttle's progress.
