Biographical Information

"Kindergarten is a child's introduction not only to school but to a whole new world of learning and discovery," says Karl Wolf, kindergarten teacher at Central Elementary School in Helena. "I have the unique opportunity," he adds, "to make this first experience in education exciting and, even more importantly, fun." In an effort to tailor learning to the individual child, Mr. Wolf has implemented "Center Time," a program that uses hands-on and integrated learning activities. The program relies on the more than 150 learning centers developed by Mr. Wolf to help further a child's mastery of a skill at that child's individual pace. Parents participate frequently as guest teachers in this program. Parent/child cooperation is also encouraged by the home projects that Mr. Wolf actively promotes. Fun and learning are inseparable for Mr. Wolf, who works to instill in his young students a sense of the joy of lifelong learning.
