Karen Wild is a veteran educator whose career spans more than 30 years in K-12 public education. She served as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, principal, and Director of School Improvement for Carrollton City Schools before retiring in May 2026. She now serves as a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Leadership and Analytics within the College of Education at the University of West Georgia.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Wild's passion for literacy has shaped her approach to school improvement. In her role as Director of School Improvement, she led community-partnership initiatives including The Literacy Lane story walk, the publication of the children's book The Trojan Tale, and the STREAM initiative. She also developed the Literacy for Living, Leading, and Learning grant, through which Carrollton City Schools was awarded more than $3 million for literacy efforts.
Her volunteer leadership has extended that impact across the community. She serves on the Carroll County Literacy Task Force and is a member of the Lions Club of Carrollton. A Ferst Readers of Carroll County volunteer since 2015, she has served as Board Member at Large, Chair of the Family Education Team, and Second Vice President, and she currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors.
Mrs. Wild is married to Marty Wild and is the mother of Bailey and Lindsay. She attends First Baptist Church of Villa Rica.
