Kandice Starbuck, math teacher for grades 6-8 at Riverton Middle School in Riverton, is an animated educator who engages her students in real-world, hands-on applications of math concepts through a business/marketing class that she team-teaches with another educator. She also teaches a 9th-grade-level algebra class for 8th-graders in which she uses computers and advanced calculators, and often brings in students from the local high school to serve as tutors for her middle school students. A frequent participant at professional development workshops, Ms. Starbuck strives to integrate her constantly expanding knowledge of her subject into her classroom activities. She is a member of her district's math curriculum committee.
