Biographical Information

Joyce O'Jibway-Jennings teaches general education to the kindergarten and first grade children of Harbor Summit School in San Diego. Ms. O'Jibway-Jennings has been teaching in Court/Community schools in San Diego since 1984, and for the past three years she has been teaching at the Harbor Summit School for Homeless children. She created and organized "Dollars for Scholars," a scholarship foundation which has fostered a partnership among businesses, communities, colleges and foundations. Ms. O'Jibway-Jennings established a partnership with the Center for Economic Education at San Diego State University to organize and implement an innovative approach to teaching economics. She is co-founder and project designer of "For Parents' and Kids' Sake" -a non-profit organization established for the prevention of child abuse. "At-rise children often lack confidence that there is a place for them in our nation's future," says Ms. O'Jibway-Jennings. "I want to help them grow into adults who have a realistic sense of their worth and talents.
