Biographical Information

A career science educator with 25 years of classroom teaching experience, DeLuca joined Educational Testing Service (ETS) in 1998 holding the positions of Assessment Developer for both Praxis and the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), Director of Development for NBPTS, Project Director for NBPTS, National Director of Client Relations for ETS Teacher Licensure Programs, and currently serves as a Strategic Advisor in the division of Student and Teacher Assessment. During his time in the classroom, DeLuca received numerous awards for his teaching. In addition to being named a Milken National Educator, DeLuca was also a National Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching, a GTE GIFT Fellow, and an Ashland Teacher Achievement Award winner, among other recognitions and distictions. Additionally, DeLuca served in many leadership roles including being President of his local education association, President of the West Virginia Science Teachers Association, and Legislative Chair of the West Virginia Education Association. DeLuca was also elected to Board of Directors for NBPTS serving three years before he began his career at ETS. While at ETS, DeLuca was responsible for overseeing the development of the National Board assessments including the initial redesign of the assessments across all certificate areas. Additionally, DeLuca worked on the California TPA as well as Washington state’s second tier licensure assessment, ProTeach, and is a recognized expert in performance based assessment. In his role as National Director of Client Relations for Teacher Licensure Programs, DeLuca led the effort to establish a culture of excellence providing high quality personal service to each and every teacher licensure client. DeLuca has received the prestigious ETS Presidential Award for his contributions. DeLuca holds both his undergraduate and graduate level degrees in Science Education from California University of Pennsylvania.
