Biographical Information

Jerrie Boksich, teacher at Muldown Elementary School, Whitefish, has taught grades 1-8. She has worked with Title I, Gifted/Talented, curriculum development, taught French and Art. Mrs. Boksich implemented several innovative programs. The Education Through Music unit she used throughout the curriculum was expanded to make it intergenerational by weekly visiting a nursing home sharing songs and conversations with residents. As a teacher author of the Pegasus Reading Program, Mrs. Boksich incorporated her classroom and nursing home work into writing literature units on grandparents and endangered species. She helped write every revision of the Montana State Communication Arts Curriculum since 1989 and reviewed and readied Montana for Common Core Standards. As an active member of the Montana State Reading Council and the Northwest Reading Council, she served as President and in several other positions. Mrs. Boksich received the Pam Atchison Outstanding Literacy Educator award from the Montana State Reading Council.
