J. Jennifer Yoo is currently a Regional Director with the Los Angeles Unified School District in the San Fernando Valley. At the time of the award, Ms. Yoo taught third graders at Welby Way Elementary. Prior to her current role supervising schools and administrators, she served LAUSD students for three decades in a variety of capacities, including classroom teacher, UCLA literacy coach, assistant principal, and both elementary and secondary school principal. Throughout her career, Ms. Yoo has remained committed to advancing student achievement and building the capacity of educators to ensure all students reach their full potential. She credits her parents with instilling in her a deep belief in public education as a pathway to the American dream and is profoundly grateful for their sacrifices as immigrants from Korea, who came to the United States to provide their children with educational opportunities and the freedom to pursue meaningful, positive impact on others.
