Since 1982, Jean Sanders has taught kindergarten at Pulaski County Elementary School, the same school she attended as a child. Ms. Sanders wants the children in her classes to see achievement as something wonderful, so she creates an atmosphere in which their smallest successes are valued. By teaming accomplished students with others who are struggling, she helps build self confidence in all students. Ms. Sanders was named Pulaski County Teacher of the Year for 1989-90, and was a semifinalist for Georgia Teacher of the Year honors in 1990. In 1991 she was named Young Careerist for the Georgia southwest District by the Business and Professional Women's Club.
