Herman Thomas, principal of Arkadelphia High School, began his career in education 23 years ago as a French teacher in Arkadelphia. As principal, he has overseen the adoption of a comprehensive technology-driven curriculum, and has initiated and revamped incentive programs, always working to involve teachers, parents and community and business leaders. Mr. Thomas lets his students know that they are his top priority; he takes time to counsel them individually, letting them know he believes in them. Under his guidance, Arkadelphia High School was recently named a National School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.
