Biographical Information

Mr. Rustay is currently the principal at Northport K - 8 in Port St. Lucie, Florida and has been a principal for 9 years in St. Lucie County. When Mr. Rustay received his award: As lead teacher for the fifth-grade team at Garden City Elementary Technology Magnet School in Fort Pierce, Glenn Rustay's expertise and leadership in infusing the curriculum with technology has stimulated students and colleagues alike. His students use computers to gather facts, compose presentations, and practice reading and math skills on a daily basis. Mr. Rustay's intensive instruction in strategic thinking in math has dramatically boosted student achievement on state-mandated testing. He clearly communicates expectations and closely monitors his students' work, using daily computerized testing to plan remediation and small-group instruction. A nationally-recognized presenter on learning technology, he is co-chair of the school's technology committee. Mr. Rustay received National Board Certification in 1999.
