Elsie Husom's exponential impact as an educator even exceeds her influence on her students; for she has guided more than a generation of educators in the integration of technology into their curriculum. A former English teacher and speech and drama coach, Ms. Husom served as a media technology instructor at Brainerd Senior High School in Brainerd and then as District Director of Media Technology. Ms. Husom planned and developed more than fifty professional development workshops on integrating technology into the curriculum, both in the Brainerd District and for educators throughout Minnesota. An educator for 33 years, Ms. Husom was an active participant in state and national professional organizations. After retirement, she continued educating by volunteering at the County Jail, teaching art and leading book clubs every week until the pandemic closed the jail from any volunteers/visitors. She also has been very active in a local arts organization which offers classes and workshops for kids as well as adults.
