Biographical Information

Darrell Myers was a teacher in the Eureka High School District for 31 years, teaching classes in history and economics. He has been retired since 1999. A leader at school and in the community, Myers was known for his lively teaching style, using vivid anecdotes from historical events and references to his earlier experiences as a businessman. His principal described Myers' classroom as a "progressive, safe, healthy and intellectually stimulating environment where each student is provided with an equal opportunity to work at his or her level of excellence." Myers spent the 2008-2009 school year volunteering as a reading mentor in the Reading Partners program at William Green School in Lawndale, CA. He looks forward to continuing in this very effective program for many years to come. At this time, Reading Partners is only in California schools, but hopes to expand in the future.
