Through his commitment and vision as an educational leader, Charles Heinlein, principal of Tyler Consolidated High School in Sistersville, has created a model school that is emulated throughout the state. Mr. Heinlein assumed a crucial leadership role in the three-year consolidation process that merged Tyler County's two high schools into a single strong and well-defined institution. Today, the school's record of outstanding achievement test scores and its increase from 40% to 60% in college enrollment attest to its success. Among the many programs implemented by Mr. Heinlein are: "Parent University" (a comprehensive parent/faculty program), an active community service program and an exchange program with West Virginia University.
Mr. Heinlein was appointed West Virginia's 29th state superintendent of schools, assuming the role on July 1, 2014.
