Mr. Bruce DuPlanty received his Bachelor of Music Education in 1993 from Northern Arizona University and earned his Master’s in Educational Leadership from NAU in 2005. Mr. DuPlanty is currently serving as the Deputy Associate Superintendent of Certification and Educator Preparation at the Arizona Department of Education. Formerly, Mr. DuPlanty was a Peer Evaluator in the Maricopa County Education Service Agency working under the TIF 4 Grant. Mr. DuPlanty has served as Assistant Principal at Mountain Ridge High School and Deer Valley High School focusing on Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment as well as Activities, School Safety and Learning Community. Additionally, Mr. DuPlanty was Curriculum and Instruction Specialist for the Arts in the Deer Valley Unified School District. He is the former Director of Bands of Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale, Arizona. The bands under his direction consistently perform at a Superior level and have been invited to perform at the Arizona Music Educator’s Conference several times as well as placing third at the 2002 Fiesta Bowl National Band Championship and earning Sweepstakes Champion at several events outside of Arizona. In the fall of 1999 he received the America West, Phoenix Suns Educator of the Year award and the prestigious Milken Family Foundation National Educator award. In 2000 NAU recognized Mr. DuPlanty with an Alumni Achievement Award and Deer Valley Unified School district recognized him as a teacher of the year in 2002. The Arizona Music Educator’s Association awarded Mr. DuPlanty the O.M. Hartsell Excellence in Teaching Music Award in 2005.
