At Saluda School, a K-8 school in Saluda, principal Beverly Gregory has instituted a School Improvement Plan that includes goals and objectives related to teacher quality and leadership. Mrs. Gregory has developed a teacher evaluation system at Saluda that includes a formative evaluation, individual growth plans, regular evaluation conferences and an end-of-the-year assessment. She facilitated Saluda's incorporation of North Carolina's A+ Schools Initiative, enhancing the curriculum through arts education. The program has led to a significant improvement in grade level proficiency and academic growth. She encourages parental and community involvement through activities such as fund-raisers, special events and volunteerism. Mrs. Gregory is a participant in the North Carolina Principals' Executive Program.
