Barry Ricci is superintendent of the Chariho Regional School District in Wood River Junction. Previously, he served the district as assistant superintendent. A former principal of Western Coventry Elementary School in Coventry, Ricci implemented the first school-based governance model in that community—collaborating with staff to establish an annual school improvement plan. Ricci's innovative programs included Morning Academy, a before-school writing clinic, and ParentsFirst, which was designed to strengthen school-home partnerships. An advocate of inclusive education, Ricci worked to ensure that disabled students were not segregated from the school’s curriculum and activities, and developed the school's Learning Center for at-risk students.
