Through her dynamic leadership, principal Andrienne Longobucco has shifted the emphasis of the curriculum at Center School in Litchfield from teaching to learning. She was the driving force in creating the school's model curriculum map, which was recognized by the state as an example of best practices in curriculum design. Mrs. Longobucco trains her staff in the Learning Triad, a new instructional model that blends standards, assessments and learning strategies. She encourages ongoing, systematic professional development through a collaboration with Columbia University's Reading/Writing Project, and helps familiarize new teachers with the school during a New Teacher Induction Day. A highly regarded author and conference presenter, Mrs. Longobucco helped Center School earn a National Blue Ribbon School Award.
