Deming Intermediate is ready to celebrate: New Mexico Secretary of Education Christopher Ruszkowski is touring schools around the state, and today he's joining the all-school assembly at Deming. He introduces a special guest from California, and students and staff realize something special is about to happen. When Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, surprises math teacher Melanie Alfaro with New Mexico's 2017-18 Milken Educator Award, the day quickly becomes one the outstanding educator will remember for the rest of her life. Follow the excitement in our photo gallery.
