Kindergarten Teacher Hailey Couch Wins OK Milken Award

 

 

Holding her students' hands and trailing a crowd of visiting dignitaries, Hailey Couch leads Lowell Milken, chairman and co-founder of the Milken Family Foundation, back to her kindergarten classroom after her surprise Milken Educator Award notification. Couch's class runs like clockwork, with predictable routines, clear expectations, smooth transitions, effective lesson planning, and engaging instruction with both small groups and the whole class. The teacher holds high expectations for all her students, including those with special needs, believing that the higher she sets the bar, the harder students will work to reach it.
