For Vivian Mallory Stephens, teaching fourth graders at Clairmont Elementary School in Decatur isn't work, it's pure fun. Driven by a love of children, she is committed to better education through better educators, working with student teachers and serving as a mentor to new teachers on the staff. Ms. Stephens has taught in Georgia since 1971, and is often credited with developing innovative teaching practices, particularly in Georgia history and reading. An energetic participant in community affairs, she teaches Sunday school, works at a local children's home and supports her own son's activities in sports, the school band and the Boy Scouts.
