At Newfield Primary School in Bridgeport, first-grade inclusion teacher Sangeeta Bella is an achievement- oriented educator. She promotes literacy and student achievement to foster successful citizens for the 21st century. Under her leadership, students' independent and recreational reading has increased, students work collaboratively, and they are involved in activities that encourage them to be problem solvers and independent thinkers. Mrs. Bella recently co-wrote a mini-grant which provides funding for students to write fiction and nonfiction books. She has been appointed a New England Associations of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Commissioner and recently co- presented a workshop on inclusion classrooms at the 119th annual conference held by the NEASC in Boston, Mass. In the absence of her principal, Mrs. Bella serves as the teacher in charge, taking care of the building at an administrative level.
