In the past Ron Scutt taught grades one through eight at the Stehekin School, a one-room school serving between six and twenty-two students in Stehekin, Washington. The community of Stehekin is located deep within the North Cascade Mountains of WA State and can be reached only by ferry or float plane. "The foundation of our educational program," says Mr. Scutt, "is that we attempt to meet all students with a dynamic curriculum that actively engages each student's intellect, physical capability and sense of artistic growth." The experience of teaching children ranging in age from six to fourteen within the same classroom setting has provided Mr. Scutt with an extraordinary educational experience and a command of both the integrated curriculum and developmentally appropriate instruction. Mr. Scutt shares the unique educational program he developed by conducting summer courses and through his writing. Mr. Scutt currently serves as superintendent of the Stehekin School District.
