Leonora Kunimoto teaches chemistry at Waiakea High School, where she has also been instrumental in developing a comprehensive science program that includes advanced placement and directed studies courses. In her previous position as science resource teacher for Hawaii District, she helped develop activity-oriented science units for elementary grades, worked on instructional guides on the metric system and environmental education and wrote an instrumental guide and accompanying field trip guide on the geology of Hawaii. As part of the Hawaii Education Summit, Ms. Kunimoto helped to develop the eight Hawaii Goals for Education. In 1979, she received the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society of North America Award.
