Biographical Information

Janet Jump is currently principal of Kelly Liberal Arts Academy in Wichita, Kansas, where her achievements include writing and receiving a $250,000 Comprehensive School grant for a program called LENS (Learning Essentials Necessary for Student Success), which focuses on the Correlates of Effective Schools. Jump was formerly the principal at Horace Mann Elementary School, a Blue Ribbon School with an award-winning bilingual program, where she wrote and received a Kansas State Department of Education's Reading Excellence Tutorial Grant, which provided the school with $440,000 a year for three years. She also served as principal of Lincoln Elementary School, a Title I school located in a low-income neighborhood of Wichita. Her work in enhancing Lincoln's professional development process, empowering teachers and boosting student achievement, helped the school become one of four finalists for the National Staff Development Award. Jump is a past president of the Wichita Association of Elementary School Principals and past president of the Wichita Educational Administrators Association, for which she is also a member of the executive board.
