Biographical Information

During his career in education, George McCullough has been a teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, head football coach, and assistant basketball and wrestling coach. He is currently principal of his alma mater, Washington High School in South Bend, Indiana, where he was honored by his district as principal of the year. Mr. McCullough is also a recipient of the Urban League's Visionary Service Award. Under his leadership, the faculty at Washington High School plans to implement two major programs for the 2005-06 school year: a Freshman Acadamy (Smaller Learning Community) and a Medical Science Magnet Program, both designed to improve student graduation rates and career options. Mr. McCullough is currently spearheading the construction of additional classrooms and a complete renovation of the existing building. Washington High School achieved a 12 percent increase in language arts scores and a 14 percent increase in math scores on the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress Exam for the 2004-05 school year.
