John Goudie teaches biology to ninth-, eleventh- and twelfth-graders at the Kalamazoo Area Mathematics and Science Center in Kalamazoo. Dr. Goudie is a frequent organizer and presenter of workshops to introduce area teachers to new materials and technologies. He is also the creator of Searching for Health, an annual conference that brings area health professionals and students together. Advancing his school's outreach policy, Dr. Goudie has developed Mindsphere, a program designed to engender curiosity and enthusiasm for the study of science. Dr. Goudie is joined by colleagues in taking Mindsphere's many science shows on the road to area schools. The more than 20 shows Dr. Goudie presented last year reached approximately 3,000 students. The Michigan Association of Science Teachers has named Dr. Goudie the 1995 Michigan Science Teacher of the Year.
