Principal Emily Myers emphasizes reading mastery at Windsor Elementary School in Arlington Heights. A former reading consultant, Dr. Myers formed a reading study group at Windsor that meets weekly to discuss the latest strategies for reading instruction. She recently introduced a pilot program at Windsor called the Flexible Delivery Services Program, which provides support in a variety of settings for students with specific needs. Last spring, she led the school in a new collaborative program with the district in which student mentors from local high schools helped Windsor students build their writing and technology skills. Dr. Myers also involves parents and the community through such programs as Science Olympiad Day and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
