Biographical Information

After graduating with her B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Lincoln University (Missouri), Anika Williams excitedly returned to the Kansas City area to work with children.  Anika has taught in both elementary and middle schools. During her journey, Anika served as grade-level chair and on the district science and technology curriculum writing committees. Anika completed the 2-year program: UMKC Pathway to Leadership in Urban Schools, and she currently serves as the assistant principal at Whittier Elementary School in Kansas City, MO.

Recently Anika earned her Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) and is currently in the doctoral program at UMKC. Anika's passion for education exists outside the classroom as well. Anika participated in several Depth of Knowledge alignment studies for various state assessments in ELA and science. Anika has also written and scored test items for the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) in ELA and science.

Anika is grateful to have been selected as a Honeywell Educator and afforded the opportunity to train with educators from all over the United States and 35 countries around the world. Anika is also fortunate enough to have been the recipient of the prestigious Milken National Educator Award for her work in education.

Anika not only has a commitment to the children and teachers she serves; she has a commitment to the community as well. She proudly serves as the Second Vice President and is a member of the Social Action Committee for the Kansas City (MO) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
