Veteran Milken Educator speech

Veteran Milken Educator Dr. Deborah Hunley-Stukes (VA '99) welcomes new recipient Amber Dortch (VA '15) to the Milken Educator family. Hunley-Stukes opened Hugo A. Owens Middle School in 1997 and received her Milken Educator Award as its principal in 1999, the first year the Award was presented in Virginia. Lowell Milken, chairman and co-founder of the Milken Family Foundation, presented Hunley-Stukes with her Award in the very same gymnasium where Dortch received hers today.

Milken Educators are recognized both for past accomplishments and in anticipation of the contributions they will make to education in the future; some go on to district and state positions that have significant and lasting positive impacts on teaching methods and curricula. Hunley-Stukes currently serves as Cheapeake Public Schools' director of middle school curriculum and instruction.
