The Surprise of a Lifetime for Chicago Teacher Comfort Agboola

CHICAGO, IL — "I'm guiding students towards their dreams." Edgar Allan Poe Classical Elementary School teacher Comfort Agboola spends her days empowering students in 6th through 8th grade and equipping them with the tools to follow their passions. 

An assembly on February 2, 2024, became a dream come true for the outstanding ELA, reading and mathematics educator when Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, surprised her with a $25,000 Milken Educator Award, the only one given in Illinois this season. Dr. Foley was joined by Illinois State Superintendent of Education Dr. Tony Sanders to welcome Comfort to the Milken Educator Network. See how the big day unfolded!
