GA Has a New Milken Educator: Science Teacher Colt Brockington

JESUP, GEORGIA—What's happening at Wayne County High School? Students and staff are gathered in the gymnasium for a star-studded all-school assembly. Deputy Superintendent of Rural Education and Innovation at the Georgia Department of Education Dr. Bronwyn Ragan-Martin and Georgia State Board of Education Member Nicholas Ellis have come to celebrate student growth and kick off the second semester. But the assembly takes an unexpected turn when Ellis introduces Stephanie Bishop, vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, who surprises science teacher Colt Brockington with Georgia's sole 2023-24 Milken Educator Award and a $25,000 cash prize.
