Teacher Nathan Gibbs-Bowling Accepts $25,000 Award, Dedicates it to Colleagues and Amazing Students

Nathan Gibbs-Bowling was “moved to tears” by how his students reacted to seeing a teacher being recognized for the first time. Find out what he had to say to them and his colleagues after Milken Family Foundation Co-Founder Mike Milken presented him with the 2013–14 Milken Educator Award during a surprise assembly at Lincoln High School in Tacoma, WA. Special guests U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, WA and Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland add their congratulations to Nate and gratitude to all of the outstanding teachers in the nation.

  • Congratulation to Nate Bowling he is an example of a local home grown that return to the community he grew up in. He also attributes his success to his mom insisting he participated in the Oratorical contest at Ebenezer Baptist District Association. He was the President of North Pacific Baptist Convention Youth Department. He was selected as Afro King in High School. He represents himself, community, his family and Country well. You go Nate. A job well done.
