Dr. Yvonne Caamal Canul (MI '95) Wins AASA Women In School Leadership Award

Dr. Yvonne Caamal Canul (MI '95), superintendent of Michigan's Lansing School District, has won the 2017 Women in School Leadership Superintendent Award from the School Superintendents Association (AASA). The award is sponsored by AASA and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Caamal Canul's award includes $1,000 and a one-year membership to AASA. The award honors an exceptional female superintendent and was announced at AASA's national conference in New Orleans. Criteria include personal and organizational communication, professionalism and community involvement.

"I am truly honored by this prestigious award and the public recognition it brings to the Lansing School District and public education," superintendent Caamal Canul said, according to WLNS.com
