Dr. Jennifer Salls (NV ’89) passed away on June 22, 2021. She was 69 years old.

At the time of her Milken Award, Jennifer taught math at McQueen High School in Reno. She ended her career as the Gifted and Talented Program Facilitator for the Washoe County School District and also worked for the Nevada Department of Education and the Washoe County Department of Education.

In addition to the Milken Award, Jennifer received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching for Nevada in 1983 and then nationally in 1984. She was Nevada Teacher of the Year in 1985 and elected to the Sparks High School Hall of Fame in 2018.
