Darryl Andrews (OK '03) passed away on April 3, 2024, after battling ALS and pancreatic cancer. He was 60 years old. Darryl taught physical science and leadership his entire career at Yukon High School and spent nearly 40 years devoted to his work in the classroom and community. In his leadership class and as a coach for the Special Olympics, Darryl was known to instill in his students the importance of community service and volunteerism. Mr. Andrews also served as an advisor for "Leaders of Tomorrow," a leadership development program for freshmen sponsored by the Yukon Chamber of Commerce.

In early April 2024, the Yukon Public Schools Board approved the dedication of a new auditorium at Yukon High School in his honor. Yukon Superintendent Jason Simeroth shared, “There are people everywhere whose lives have been changed because of Mr. Andrews.” A Darryl W. Andrews Memorial Scholarship is being established by his family to continue to help others.
