The NE Milken Award Goes to … Leslie McIntosh!

It's Thanksgiving week and Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca Middle School is buzzing. Nebraska Commissioner of Education Dr. Brian Maher is visiting for an assembly to commend the school's achievement gains and Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). When Milken Educator Awards Vice President Stephanie Bishop takes the microphone, everyone finds out that a surprise is in store for one dedicated educator. Bishop presents reading and English language arts teacher Leslie McIntosh with a $25,000 Milken Educator Award and reveals that the assembly was organized to celebrate her. After today's honor, McIntosh is the first Milken Award recipient from Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca Public Schools and the 2,954th Milken Educator recognized on the journey to our 3,000th Milken Award announcement.
