Ashley Dunne Receives Connecticut Milken Award

Good afternoon, Gainfield Elementary School! Connecticut Education Commissioner Charlene M. Russell-Tucker and Pomperaug Region 15 School District Superintendent Joshua Smith are visiting today, although no one knows the real reason for the all-school assembly. The picture begins to come into focus when Commissioner Russell-Tucker introduces Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, who tells the crowd she has come to honor one of the country's most outstanding educators. Follow the excitement as Dr. Foley names music teacher Ashley Dunne a 2023-24 Connecticut Milken Educator—this is one day Dunne will remember for the rest of her life. After today's honor, Dunne is the 2,936th Milken Educator recognized on the journey to our 3,000th Milken Award announcement. Follow along in the photos below.
